Great Business Plan Ideas And The Harry

There are a gazillion different great business plan ideas, and ways to finance them.  There are even more ideas that we haven't even thought of yet.  Someone will think of them.  Will that be you?

And while we're on the topic, where do great business ideas and business financing notions come from?  Where, in fact, does creativity come from?  I read an article recently about how social stuff (Twitter, etc.) is very creative killing.  It doesn't leave time for anyone to feel a gut reaction, it just whizzes by.

Great ideas need time to jell, to emerge on their own terms, in their own time.  These are not mediocre ideas, but really great ideas.  For example, did you know that both Harry Potter and Mickey Mouse sprung into being during a train ride?
It is true.  If you've been on a train lately, you know the clippedty-clippedty-clippedty that lulls you along, almost like a mantra.  Even trying to read on a train can be a challenge, with the clippedty-clippedty-clippedty constantly echoing in your brain.  Hey, then when you're not even looking for it, a notion, a hint of an idea, the very germ of creation pops up, right there in front of you.  If you and I were Walt Disney or JK Rowling, we would have it made : ) .

And even Oprah's whole company stops twice a day for meditation, with Oprah claiming that she has amazing energy from these meditation pauses.

Perhaps the moral is to just stop once in a while.  Let great business ideas just be there.

And while I am sure that Mickey had a slew of great lessons for entrepreneurs, here are a few from Harry Potter for you to mull, just one from each book.

1) "It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your enemies, but even more to stand up to your friends." Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone

2) "Never trust anything that can think for itself if you can't see where it keeps its brain." Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets

3) "The consequences of our actions are so complicated, so diverse, that predicting the future is a very difficult business indeed." Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban

4) "Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy." Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

5) "We all have good and bad inside of us. It's what side we choose to follow that defines who we really are." Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

6) "...people find it far easier to forgive others for being wrong than being right." Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince

7) "...perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it." Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

So much for business philosophy.  Take a breather and let than brainstorm out!
