It Is A Good Thing That Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder

And behold!  I am certainly a whole more beautiful than my mirror would attest to.

A great beauty salon does the impossible:  It makes the so-so person feel really great.  Business plans can't do that, even our 7 Step Beauty Salon Business Plan.  All we can do is help out with words.  And numbers.  And presentation.  But the important stuff -- like making someone feel beautiful -- no, we can't do that.

Maybe it is the undivided attention that we get for a while.  Maybe it is the smile that greets us.  Maybe it is the improvement over what we looked like before.

I know it is NOT how much we are paying.  I have paid a small fortune for a "styling" and not been as happy as I am with my current jiffy cutter.  No, there is something else going on.

This "feel good" aspect of beauty salons really works in its favor when going for financing.  Yes, the numbers have to be there, and the clients have to be there, and the location needs to be right.  But the feeling that beauty salon owners bring to their businesses just can't be faked.  They are service people of the highest calibre, and it shows in their business plans as well as in their daily business.

Those salon owners who take the time to make a strong presentation for their bank are showing the same respect to their banker that they show to their clients every single day.  And the banker knows that too.  They don't just throw a few pages together.  No, they make the time and effort to impress a banker, just as they want to impress a client.

And it shows.
