Give Your Coffee House A Jolt Of Caffein

An internet cafe business plan used to be a Big Deal.  The local internet cafe put out big signs, promoted its services in the yellow pages and on its menu and in every single ad. These spots were truly a Big Deal near colleges and business districts since those folks might even have lap tops that could take advantage of the connection.

No more.  It is not that internet cafes have gone away.  Just the opposite:  There are hot spots everywhere.  Being an "internet cafe" is pretty much a given for all coffee houses now.

So when you write a business plan for an "internet cafe", odds are that you are really looking at something just a bit different.

You might be looking at
  • A coffee house near a university
  • A coffee cafe in a business district
  • A coffee stop adjacent to a bus stop or train depot

... or anywhere that people gather.  And, rather than being just another ho hum coffee shop, take advantage of your location choice to make it a unique presentation.  There was, for example, one coffee shop owned and operated by deaf people (and very successfully so, might I add).  There was another that took on Verdi's style since it was next to the opera house.  The train station coffee house went turn-of-the-century (the 19th century).  Another shop used only organic and fair traded coffees and teas.  Whatever your niche is, spotlight it, use it, promote it.

And then demonstrate that there really is enough traffic to keep your pots brewing, and that is no small accomplishment.  Starbucks began with one location.  You will begin with one location.  Just how far you go depends on your own goals.  Whatever your plans are, we would love to sit down and sip a cup o' .
