Frost Your Buns With A Little Green Stuff

'T is rather a truism in any kind of sales that you need to establish a commonality between you and the other personal to make a good sale.  There is a great deal of truth in that statement.  And if you are writing your bakery business plan, it is certainly true.

But you are in luck.  You already have that commonality, without doing a silly thing.  Baked goods of all kinds fall into that "comfort food" category, whether you are baking breads or muffins or wedding cakes.  (OK, the wedding cakes may be mixed emotions, but mostly the feelings will be positive.)  So what you do you to really entice a lender?

First, just demonstrating your professionalism is a huge step in your direction.  Most creative people don't know the first things about running a business or looking for financing.  The fact that you are reading up on it, and intend to make as professional as possible, means that you've got a grasp on the business side of business that most bakers don't have.

And do show off your creative side.  Taking a whole cake to the bank might be challenging, but a cupcake?  Indeed, do so.  A small loaf of bread?  Yes!  If the reception is good, take something different each time.  With hard working financial types, this type of "home cooking" will make you a welcome visitor.

Also include photos of your work, especially if you create fancy stuff, and photos of your bakery too.  Use your logo to brighten up your business plan.

Yours is among the very fortunate business plans.  You have a lot to work with before you ever start, so do take advantage of it.
