Free Marketing Research from Regional University Libraries

As a librarian myself, I sometimes wax poetic about the amazing resources available from local and university libraries. Well, this time the federal government is in on it, too. And what a service!

The U.S. government spends millions upon millions of dollars each year on all kinds of research -- statistical, business studies, medical, cutting edge technology related. The list is truly endless. There are many thousands of projects on-going at any given time, and most of these projects are written up somewhere and published somewhere.

It's the "somewhere" that gets real tricky. Finding your way through government documents is akin to reading the 10,000 page federal budget.

Ta-dah! Librarians to the rescue. Now you may contact a professional researcher at one of 30 or so universities who will locate information for you! Contact http://govtinfo.org for a list of participating universities, and take your pick! It is truly that easy.

Some of the university libraries have someone on line daily; some require email contact; some are faster than others in certain areas. But ALL of them will assist you. There may be copying or transmittal charges for some of the items located, but whatever the price, it will be well worth it.

This is presently a pilot service through the middle of November. So take advantage of it while you can -- sadly, it may not be available by the end of the year.
