7 Business Women, a Dream and a Business Plan

Keywords for this post: women in business, businesswomen, business plan, minority business, SBA micro loans

It was refreshing to see the Puget Sound Business Journal (Seattle) tell the story of 7 amazing business women.

Each was a success in her own right. Each was a sign language specialist. One day 8 years ago these seven extraordinary business women all attended the same retreat. Over noshing and laughter a dream was sketched: that they all work work together, under one umbrella, not as competitors; that they would share as equal partners; that they would become nationally recognized a premier source for sign language interpretation. On a large sheet of poster board, they sketched out the values and structure of their dream company

Every single one of those dreams came true. With $14,000 and a phone line, they began. This year income exceeded the $2 million mark.

The poster board hangs in their office -- a reminder of the dream they once had, and still pursue.

There are a lot of morals to this story. Yes: Start with a dream. Place that dream into a business plan. Be persistent. Keep your eye on the dream.

It's hard explaining to new entrepreneurs the excruciating long hours, the heartbreaks, the tough decisions on the road ahead. If the dream isn't real, it isn't worth it.

Follow your dream.

I seem to be a dying breed on the internet. I still feel that article writing and article marketing are in their infancy - there is much more benefit to be derived from article writing. None of my web sites have suffered from the alleged, duplicate content filter or penalty - very much the opposite. The Article Writing blog is on course to become the number one source of information on article writing and marketing.
